Horseshoe nails are steel...if immersed in water the WILL rust. (that being said, I have a customer who wears his horseshoe nail bracelet all the time...his bracelet has patinaed to a dark color that looks gorgeous with the bright sterling links...so it all depends on what you prefer :)
