A woman I met a few years ago was wearing what I considered "a really cool looking" cross, and I asked her about it. She told me it was called a Diaconal Cross, of the Diaconal Ministry of the Lutheran Church.
I've since made many of these crosses, most of them for those entering the Diaconal Ministry.
This is my regular, "every day" SMALL Diaconal cross made with 16 gauge sterling silver or copper: it measures approx. 1 inch tall x approx. 1/2 inch wide.
Comes on an 18 inch sterling silver box chain.
Cross is one uninterrupted line, resembling an infinity symbol. "The uninterrupted line in represents the integral connection and dynamic flow between ministry in and of the church in relationship with God's world." Simple, beautiful, understated.
